Forestry Technician 1 (Seasonal)
Assist with all aspects of Bureau of Forest Resource Management work including but not limited to:
fieldwork collecting forest inventory data using standard forest mensuration tools and methodologies; boundary line maintenance; and computer mapping using GIS and GPS; timber sale inspections and timber stand improvement projects. Work to be completed will be under the direct supervision of a professional Forester and/or Forestry Technician. Incumbent may be required to work alone, in rough terrain, and in adverse weather conditions. Essential skills include tree identification, ability to measure tree diameter and height, GPS navigation, GIS data manipulation.

From $17.69 to $17.69 Hourly
Minimum Qualification
Thirty (30) semester credit hours, including or supplemented by twelve (12) semester credit hours in forestry, which must include at least one (1) course in three (3) or more of the following areas:
botany, dendrology, forest biology, forest ecology, forest mensuration, forest health/protection, forest soils, land surveying, natural resources management and silviculture. OR One (1) year of diversified, technical forestry experience in two (2) or more of the following areas:
forest management, including sale and removal of timber products; natural resources/conservation including recreation management; horticultural management, including the pruning and cultural care of trees and shrubs; forest health/protection management, including control of diseases and insect pests.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
