Forestry Technician 1 (Seasonal)
Incumbent will complete forestry work on state forest properties under the direction of a professional Forester and/or Forestry Technician. Incumbent may be required to work alone, in rough terrain, and in adverse weather conditions. Primary duties involve fieldwork marking trees for forest product sales; collecting forest inventory data using standard forest mensuration tools and methodologies; monitoring active forest product sales for contract compliance; boundary line maintenance; and computer mapping. Essential skills include:
tree identification, tree diameter and height measurement, GPS navigation, GIS data manipulation.

Salary Range:
From $16.67 to $16.67 Hourly
Minimum Qualification
Thirty (30) semester credit hours, including or supplemented by twelve (12) semester credit hours in forestry which must include at least one course in three or more of the following areas:
silviculture, forest mensuration, forest protection, forest soils, dendrology, botany, land surveying and forest biology, OR one (1) year of diversified, technical forestry experience in two (2) or more of the following areas:
forest management, including sale and removal of timber products; nursery management, including the transplanting of tree or shrub seedlings; forest pest management, including control of diseases and insect pests.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
